Birthday Balloon Decorations - Making Birthdays Special

Posted on: September 1, 2011

Birthday balloon decorations make your party look…well…like a party!  To make the party extra special, choose the best decorations based on a unique theme.  Instead of a using just a bunch of different colored bunch balloons from the party store, pick balloon decorations that will have meaning to the person whose birthday is being celebrated.

With three growing children of my own and a host of inlaws, I know how party planning generally goes.  Your child picks a theme for their birthday party and then you order that theme on a cake, buy a party pack of matching plates and napkins at the party store and then order some balloons with the traditional, large Mylar balloon in the center.  It doesn’t get any easier.  What if, though, you’re throwing a party for a person who really isn’t into movie or cartoon characters but instead likes piano, or bowling, or karate?

You’d be amazed at what you can do with balloon decorations for unusual themes like these.  Instead of using just a selection of balloons in a variety of colors, why not use one or two balloon arches to create a party area and fill that in with some balloon columns

Write down the person’s favorite things to do, hobbies, and passions.  Check online for some neat Mylar balloons in designs that match those interests.  Build your balloon arches and columns in colors that match those Mylar balloons and you’ll have put together some great looking decorations that focus on that individual.

Another way to come up with some different balloon decorations to do for a birthday party – especially for kids – is to pick their favorite picture book and model your balloon decorations after that book.  With the pending release of the movie Where the Wild Things Grow, based on a very popular children’s book, I can see that becoming the next big party idea.  You could make some balloon trees with a brown balloon column as the tree trunk and clusters of green balloons as the tree tops and recreate the jungle forest scene from the book.

It may take some time to assemble your birthday balloon decorations but the joy you’ll be giving the birthday boy or girl will be well worth the effort.
